The Land 03:47
Wake then, little one and rise. In you, all misery must die. Set it right, make up, heal. Tethered still to your fate. Your heart broke with the seal. Unborn, stillborn, too little, too late. No breakwater can hold back the currents of this heart. No future could unfold to put back what is torn apart.
2.
The Beach 04:10
Wonders in the heart of a lion that never learned to swim. Do stars die behind the horizon? Does the ocean tuck them in? Why so quiet now, my blue sea? Did I not run and run and weep? Why wont you carry me, when I run to the deep? Each step I take your hand feels weaker. Don’t lay hands on what you cant hold, child. Run on back and do as you’re told, child. Little feet ran far from home, child. Don’t you see you are alone, child? How will you navigate the wild currents of your mind when every thought will come down on all you left behind? The whole world becomes a murmur, as I stare into your blue This land never nourished and they all just never knew. Can they not see the constant strife rose from all of the lies they learned to speak that were believed before?
3.
leave from this shore The vessel about to leave the land will prove a casket for any unworthy man Passed the breakers, into the rain. Flying not in vain. Able where is Cain who taught us to offer grain? How far out must I go before you stop pushing me back? I see you now. I see you now From the moon unto your heart the pull into the knowing come adrift, come apart. Your guiding star is glowing Every wave you hide your face from the world a vain cry from the beach you pretend to not have heard. All that was shall come undone
4.
Open Water 03:39
A tolling bell awakes me as the ship rolls through the night. Is it just my tired mind or is this waking sight? A man-o-war to port-side with her colours streaming red Do I see with waking eyes the sea give up the dead? Im no ship of the line Is it steel? Is it sulphur? Is it pain? Is it torture? Is it war? They have come. they have been here. Beating drums, ever they steer for the shore Just for the fame, just for the moment. Batteries have opened up again. Have you found an enemy or friend? We all know where this is going to end. Nothing but dust in your empty hands Wisdom is calling to the simple; “Slay your foolish pride” The apple must be given or the fruit will poison be It is better to go hungry than to be hung on a tree
5.
The Fleet 05:48
When all your nets are dragging across the bottom of a dead sea is it not you who is lagging? A heart going nowhere runs empty. Wildly afloat on the waves of your discontent A cry lost in thunderous tempest. Your ship wont reach the desired continent. Do you fear now it does not exist? The dreams of all hopeless men wilfully thrown overboard shall pile on the ocean floor only then to rise. Ever the fleet will follow, set foot upon it and trample. Delicate growth plucked and hollowed, in Adams curse we had wallowed Wildly afloat on the waves of your discontent. A cry lost in thunderous tempest. Your ship wont reach the desired continent. Do you fear now it does not exist? There is a knowing that begins below the surface, where the suns glimmer ends. A profound depth longs to embrace the shallow hearts and fill its lungs with a !6 new found passion for life. It floats the soul to the surface and makes it one with air and light. You, Fleetburner, cannot save them. Their anchors fired upon you, false tokens of admiration. Hark the wind, open your sails to the storm, and never look back.

A cry for help I cannot see you. Yes, a dying call in the quiet of this night. Set sail, pretend I cannot hear you. Yet I had to stay, couldn’t look away this time. We were intended to find the stars, they say. Thats where Im headed, you can ride along with me. But you are always looking back down the way you came. I thought you had enough of your watery grave Again I drag you from the tiller, the ship is not for sale, it’s not yours to steer, it’s mine. The crooked heart of a bloodspiller in this castaway destined to betray my life Your life? Your life is not worth the boards it now drifts on.cYou flee from the masses and guide them to no land. You left your loved ones and all that for which you stand, gone. Yet you still claim to care. You built a vessel that floats unguided, unmanned. Here lies the weakness face then your flock. I shall right this error, I shall not be mocked. This moment we part ways. Is it steel? Is it sulfur? Is it pain? Is it torture? Is it War? Just your lies and your hatred are your warped sense of sacred Cast it over and take hold of all that is true. Cut the lines as the sails burn. You cant hide from whats astern Accept it we float on an infinite sea As your fear tries to take you. Sit with me I am here too !7 From the chains of his master a man can go free A Cry for Help but I cant free you yet I had to stay I couldn't look away this time

The Deck 04:57
On the edge of disaster grows a flicker of new light. (Look around and see the life all over this place) Out of deaths maw you snatched her with a desperation cry. Look at the light around you See how the stars surround you? Far away though they be, cant you even see they’re beautiful? Wasn’t it me who found you? I wasn’t trying to drown you Anyway, why did you pay back the good you got with evil things? You will find breath anew if you try just a little. You will find life anew if you try just a little Every roll of the ships deck showed me fire in your eyes. When the fleet is adrift and delirious, corrupt and mesmerized. Open eyes and soft-spoken voices could change the world in a day Put an end to all sacrifices and chase our idols away What man can stand before another? One man can stand before another Your deeds are in your own hand.

The Course 06:20
Peace and kindness, are they just a dream? ‘Cause the world is filled with anguish like a poisoned stream. Be the difference is the mask they wear but underneath I see the venom of a deadly stare. I climb the mast, I feel the rigging of this mystery. Can it really bear me safely over the wine dark sea? Past the isles of dread that fill my head, past the creatures of the deep Will I find the land of peace or will I find more woe and pain Lies and hatred are the sacred creed of a peoples full devotion to their wicked deeds Hear them crushing underneath their feet all these helpless little ones. Won’t even let them scream I walk through this life with shattered souls all around me We gnaw on our pain and curse the state of reality Is there a choice to make? Is my free will a fake? Is there another way to leave this place theres no price I wont pay And the wind took me on its melody in the dark night of the soul And my friends took me for the enemy so they threw me overboard And I thought it would be the death of me, as I sank into the blue. But the light of life awakens me like the ancient myths were true Is there a way through darkness? Is there a way though pain? Is there a land of hopeful hearts where love and kindness reign? I cant be lost forever. I pray I’ll find that shore Where sorrow, tears and loneliness wont haunt me anymore Is someone out there? Im calling out your name Is someone out there? You always run away

There is a flicker of light within. A tiny blaze, a true light house You would smash the ship to put it out . There is always fear in the heart of man. See the deeds of his trembling hands . Each stone could hold a treasure that you would have sold Come at me, and raise a fist of hatred. Holds your grateful praise. I held you when you were weak. Now your treachery is plain for all to see I see you now. Overboard , the mind of those who just might understand Overboard , by my own friend who once held out a hand Overboard , compassion, love, they’are all thrown in the sea Overboard, the ship goes on, goes on but without me. There’s a flicker of light within. A tiny blaze, a true light house You would smash the ship to put it out . There’s always fear in the heart of man. See the deeds of his trembling hands . Each stone could hold a treasure that you would have sold. Down, deeper, surrounded and kept your breath escapes to the blue. And all you fear from the depth slowly starts flowing into you You will be fading into me forever. All you fled was there within. Can you see there was no never and alone is all you have been?

The Deep 05:07
Fearing not the cold. Fearing not the danger This heart of mine grows bold. Now that I see your anchor The blackness of the sea. The ancient depth in-wreathing To cleanse my memory and stop the spell you’re weaving. I have seen the destined shore. I have finally seen below the veil I still hear those fingers dancing on the strings I still hear those melodies deep inside of me The sleepless nights upon the roof with raindrops fair and sweet How can I stand as an upright man? Eyes ahead, chin up and run? Can we make it through the fight. Theres people dying every day for every little right to everything above the grave All of my fears were made of dust. Blown into nothing by the just By the just.NLHE52000010

The Endless 05:27
Kindness or jealousy, forgiveness or hate? Here stands your remedy, your prison has an open gate. The fruitless insanity of covetous greed. feasts on your weary soul, cast down the gods of sateless need. Build a new life on this new land. Care for your loved ones, why wont you let go these vain pursuits and plans? And I saw the shadow beast was man And I saw the trampling of the land And I saw the crying woman stand And I saw the child with one empty hand Would you face an endless sea and cross it in a day? And demand your lies are true You command your lies be true” Here’s your grave Alone to stand the oceans rise. A fiery touch to face the lies The red night billows rain the glowing ashes The sails are set, my tears are cried I weep for those who stayed and died Beneath the hull the burning beast still thrashes

about

The first raging fires started in Enschede, The Netherlands in 2018, when Kevin Storm recorded a full length album in a period of two months. A concept album on leaving everything behind, burning all ships in your wake, to sail towards…whatever it may turn out to be.

Having met on a Vulture Industries tour, both session musicians, Kevin Storm and Tomas Myklebust ended the tour agreeing “they should totally start a band together’. This was the founding block of Fleetburner, after which Kevin completed the circle by adding the other members, most of whom he shared stages with such as ex-In Flames bass player Peter Iwers and Dark Tranquillity/ex-Arch Enemy guitar player Christopher Amott
(for the full line-up see below).

The search for the one vocalist proved a long hard road. A nine-month period was spent in secrecy to the public with a complete line-up, headlined by a well-known unnamed Flemish pop singer and several songs were mixed and recorded, but family related matters prevented this line-up from ever going public. This major setback was set straight by the unexpected arrival of Ken Simerly. An unknown name in the scene, and his first full-length recording here sees the light. His achievement is one of the reasons this album can not be put into a single (sub)genre as you can hear elements of heavy metal, thrash, black, prog and classic rock.

Ken’s voice harkens back to the glory days of dangerous rock, with an incredible vocal range and a complete lack of fear in showing his heart. The wide emotional range was precisely what was needed to bring the story of Fleetburner to life, as the storyline encompasses an entire lifespan, starting as an insecure child runaway into the voyage of man facing his inner demons. And those outside. And beyond.

Line-up :

Vocals : Ken Simerly
Bass : Peter Iwers (ex-In Flames, ex-Cyrha)
Drums : Tomas Myklebust (Vulture Industries, Slegest)
Keys : Veli-Matti Kananen (Kalmah, One Morning Left)
